To get my attention you wrote
a six-line letter to the newspaper:

Boy wants girl
chained to mountain
about to be eaten by monster
in need of rescue
by (k)night
call XXX-XXXX

I called and presented myself as a monster
you came on your pale horse
and killed my girl in chains

I like it. I won't present my philosophical musings on the meaning but I very much like it.

Well. It reminded me a bit of a friend of mine who has this major 'rescue' complex. He seems to only fall for girls that either have some nasty home situation or have some sort of serious emotional problems. The trouble is that he doesn't always have the patience to stick with them and really help them sort out their issues and breaks up with them when their problems get too frustrating.

It just seemed like the monster and the girl here are the same individual. And the guy didn't have the patience or strength to deal with the monster and either his meddling or his abandonment just contributed to destroying the part of the girl that may have wanted to be saved.

Despite the guy asking for a girl needing to be saved from the monster and the girl presenting herself as a monster, in the end the one who suffered was the 'chained up' part.

On a side note, there does seem to be a play on 'night' vs 'knight' that I'm unsure about but I really did like that the guy rode a pale horse (like Death) rather than a white horse like a faerie tale knight.

And...I dunno if any of that made sense. >.< Or if that was what you were intending the meaning to be but that's how I read it....

Haha! I love it. And that could totally be what I was thinking. I'm not sure it was, but then I'm not always sure what I think when I write. The "(k)night" part was me not able to decide which of the words I wanted to use, so I went for the ambiguous meaning instead.

I like Eshkenazi's interpretation of it. :D
Actually, you can grammatically arrive at the conclusion that the (k)night wants a monster who is in need of rescue. Clever. I don't know why the monster would need to be rescued from the girl in chains, but pssh.

I could interpret this as a virgin (the girl) or female who feels she is seen as an innocent girl, but feels rather like a bad monster, who wants to be freed from that image by a lance-wielding knight so she freely can be the monster she feels that she really is. :p

And rescue by knight, rescue by night, clever way of wording an ad.
